Longleat Safari Park And Longleat House

One of the country’s leading wildlife attractions, Longleat was the first safari park to open in Britain. Drive around the park to see lions, tigers, rhinos, giraffes and monkeys. Voyage on the Safari Boats towards Gorilla Island and watch the Californian sea lions as they approach the boat. Longleat has a wealth of other attractions, not least of which is Longleat House. Longleat House is set in 900 acres with a further 8000 acres of woodland, lakes and farmland. Longleat Safari and Adventure Park, in Wiltshire, England, was opened in 1966 as the first drive-through safari park outside Africa.The park is situated in the grounds of Longleat House, an English stately home which is open to the public and is the current home of the 7th Marquess of Bath.

In 2016 Longleat, home to the Marquis of Bath, celebrates the 50th Anniversary of its incredible Safari Park. The subject of the BBC’s Animal Park for many years, Longleat was the very first drive-through safari experience outside Africa. The 6th Marquis introduced lions to his private estate in 1966 – we now have over 1,000 animals which we will celebrate during, what will be, an incredible year.
